Woody & Paul - Work and Sing CD

CD1 Somewhere In The West
If you liked ‘Home’, you gotta hear this! ‘Somewhere in the West’ is the unofficial debut from Woody & Paul, recorded in an old office, just like the blues legends from the past layed it down. This disc shows the first steps in what has now become a successful roots rock outfit. Recording gear was minimal and so where the songs, but since less is more, this record holds some of the most beautiful blues and country songs ever written by these guys. An old Tascam 4-track and some crappy microphones, two voices and two guitars were all they needed to create this haunting piece of music. Listen to the ghostly atmosphere of ‘Sometimes You Eat The Bear’ for instance or the gypsy influenced ‘So Real’.

CD2 Doel EP
Eerie fieldrecordings from the Belgium ghosttown ‘Doel’. Woody and Paul traveled to Doel together with H. Blaupunkt and his old stereo tapedeck. While driving through the abandoned town, a bearded man in a Mercedes raised his cup of coffee and told the guys to follow him. He showed them an old barn, situated right near the cooling towers of the local nuclear plant. A rusty shovel made the barn easy to break into. As little sparrows flew over their heads and the lifeless head of a crow was the only spectator, Woody and Paul -chaired on confessionals- played these five thrilling songs. The golden light beaming through the only window in the roof was of a holy kind. Listening to this EP, it’s like that very light is recorded on tape.
