The Nine Wives Vinyl

€25.00

The Nine Wives presents a full length album serving as a retrospective and reinterpretation of Veneman's repertoire from the past few decades, with new material added. It was recorded at the renowned Tarwesound Studio under the direction of producer Pieter Kloos.

Eindhoven singer/songwriter Woody Veneman invites you on a new musical adventure with his brand new trio The Nine Wives. Armed with a merciless rhythm section of Lola Heijdt (drums) and Joni Houtman (vocals/bass), Veneman brings the best of his oeuvre in a swinging fashion.

The eponymous album features reimagined versions of songs from his well-known duos and bands, as well as original compositions written by Veneman for films and theatre plays. It also includes brand-new compositions. The trio gives the songs a surprising, refreshing and, above all, organic treatment, stripping them down to their essence before rebuilding them with power and character.

The result is an energetic live sound. Woody on steroids, like a folk Hulk bursting out of his leather jacket. The songs are extremely catchy yet retain their rough edges; they are perfect in their imperfection. They are rocking and swinging, yet also melodic and compelling.
