Woody and The Nine Wives

Woody invites you on a new musical adventure with his brand new trio Woody and The Nine Wives. Armed with a merciless rhythm section of Joni Houtman (bass) and Lola Heijdt (drums), Veneman brings the best of his oeuvre in a swinging fashion.

Together they strip the songs down to their essence, then re-dress and pump them up: Woody on steroids. A folk-Hulk bursting out of his leather jacket. The songs are catchy, rough around the edges, but are melodious and compelling.

The City of Light has always been an inspiration for gritty electronica, filthy rock, and unexpected singer-songwriter tunes. In an era of plastic-sounding, artificially generated music, the trio draws inspiration from the raw, minimalist qualities of bands like Violent Femmes and The Modern Lovers. This punk attitude lends Woody's sweet-voiced songs a surprisingly ragged dimension.
